Product Description
The Benedictine Monastery in Trebitz belongs among the oldest monastic institutions in Moravia. Its history dates back to 1101. During the 13th century major reconstruction was started. Thanks to its strong protection systém, the Trebitz Monastery was able toovercome Hussite attacks without serious defects. It was affected in a tragic way during Mathias Korvins crusade against George of Podebrady in 1468. The ruins of the monastery were rebuilt into an aristocratic residence. The chateau premises were declared to be a national cultural heritage memorial in 2002 in Czech Republic, titled St. Prokops Basilica. In 2003, it was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
